Information that may be of interest : I had to call the AOL Tech support BBS to find
this file. It is written to be Geos Ensemble 2.0 compatible. It is a pain to
install and it is super fast (even at 2400) thanks to the fact that it has no graphics.
Aol 1.6
Platform: DOS / GEOS
Release date: Unknown but program lists a
copyright of 1994
Requirements: 2 Megs of hard drive
space....Video card.....Modem
Installation instructions: Pound your fists in
rage and scream at the computer! I had to extract the contents of the file to a: and
install it from there. Also for some reason it didn't like my video card so I had to
use EGA mode.
Compatibility: As far as
I know it works. I believe they have disabled the ability to
sign up as a new user so you will have to get an account via the phone
or use your existing account. Also I couldn't get it to give
me a local access number so I had to call AOL for a number.
You could use a windows version to get the numbers but I haven't tried
it that way. There is no Internet capability built in but you
can access most areas of AOL. I like it because I can read my e-mail and send IM without
all the BS you go through in the windows versions.
